Tornados Flavor Challenge

Tornados announced this month the Facebook-based promotion “Flavor Challenge 2.0”, in which the brand’s 130,000 plus fans can submit flavor ideas in eight different categories. The top flavor in each category wins a year’s supply of Tornados and a Tornados-wrapped microwave. One lucky entry may even see his or her face on a Tornados box.

(1) Tornados Facebook fans can submit flavors in any of up to eight ‘flavor categories.’ Categories open for submissions are:
• Asian Fusion
• Backyard BBQ
• Kick-It Up (Spicy)
• American Classics
• Teen Snack Attack
• Around the World
• Early Bird (Breakfast)
• Sweet Tooth (Dessert)

(2) Tornados Facebook fans can rate and comment on flavors entered, earning points redeemable for prizes in the Tornados prize vault. Prizes include: Experience of a Lifetime Raffle (VIP racing-themed trip for two to Charlotte, including the Richard Petty Driving Experience); virtual badges; t-shirts; etched I-Pod raffle … and more.

Each “Flavor Champion” wins a Tornados-skinned microwave and a year’s supply of Tornados. One of the “Flavor Champions” could be featured on the Tornados box itself, if the flavor is developed.

Eggplant Recipe Contest - Zov’s Bistro

Eggplant, a widely misunderstood vegetable that evokes strong passions among gourmands (they either love or loathe it), will be the key ingredient in a recipe contest being launched by Zov’s Bistro.
All recipes must be submitted to customercare@zovs.com with RECIPE CONTEST in the subject line by Wed, May 5. Zov will test the submissions and a panel of judges will evaluate the finalists at a luncheon to be held on Wednesday, May 12 at 11:30 a.m. To be considered, you must be able to attend the luncheon. 2010 American Pie Council’s Crisco National Pie Contest - Florida

The California Raisin Marketing Board (CRMB) is sharing a slice of raisin pie history along with raisin recipes to inspire pie bakers around the county to participate in the 2010 American Pie Council’s Crisco National Pie Championships at the Omni Championsgate in Kissimmee, Florida, April 23-25, 2010.

Both amateur and commercial pie enthusiasts are encouraged to enter into a variety of flavor categories including the third annual California Raisin category. Pies entered into the California Raisin category need to include at least one cup of California Raisins in either a raisin-only or other flavor pie. ‘Battle Shrimp’ kicks off TAPS’ 10th anniversary celebration

TAPS Fish House & Brewery in Brea continues their tenth anniversary celebration with Battle Shrimp, a cooking competition open to amateurs, culinary students and industry professionals alike. STONEFIRE GRILL LAUNCHES THANKSGIVING-THEMED ESSAY WRITING CONTEST

What do you have to be thankful for? That’s the theme of an essay writing contest for grade schoolers from around the Southland who will have an opportunity to compete for scholarships thanks to Stonefire Grill’s second annual Thanksgiving-themed essay writing contest. The youngsters will compete for scholarships in the form of U.S. Savings Bonds including a $1,000 bond for first place, $500 for second and a third place prize of $250. Finalists will appear at a complimentary luncheon to be held in their honor just before the Thanksgiving holiday and each will receive complimentary gift certificates to be redeemed at any Stonefire Grill location.
