Cherry Thyme

By: Managing Partner and Beverage Director Wil Dee

Use Boston Shaker
ADD: 1/4 oz Haven-made simple syrup Haven-made + 3 spoons cherry juice
MUDDLE: 5 Haven-made cherries + 3 thyme sprigs
ADD: 3 oz: Michter’s rye whiskey
SHAKE
DOUBLE STRAIN into Martini Glass
GARNISH: 1 cherry + 1 sprig thyme

What makes this cocktail unique:
* Maraschino cherries – these are made in-house from quality Bing cherries (large, firm and have even deep-red coloring; sweet and delicious in taste).

* Fresh Thyme – Haven Gastropub’s Executive Chef/Partner, Greg Daniels, utilizes fresh thyme grown on-site, outdoors, behind the restaurant. In fact, the garden grows many of the herbs seen in items throughout our menu.

* The Michter’s straight rye whiskey – these are direct quotes from online sources, but Wil can elaborate on why this particular whiskey is used: Known for Rye since their founding in 1753, Michter’s doesn’t mess around when it comes to rye whiskey. Notes of spice, black pepper, marmalade and plum. Aged in fire-charred, new American white oak barrels. Well worthy of sipping straight, this rye also mixes beautifully.
