Celebrate the 100th Tour de France in Provencal Style

“The Tour de Franceis as much about celebrations as it is about sport,” says the official Tour de France website. Indeed, as the world’s largest annual spectator sporting event, the Tour attracts an audience of millions – online, on television, and along French roadsides. On the streets, the atmosphere is fun and festive, with fans gathering hours in advance of the passing riders and sharing bottles of wine and baskets of picnic food.

If you can’t be in France for the 100th edition of the three-week Tour (June 29-July 21), there’s nothing stopping you from joining the festivities at home. And what better time than this centennial year to set aside the cycling scandals of recent years and simply enjoy the sport and its beautiful backdrop.
