The results are in from the 2013 LA International Beer Competition and TAPS Fish House & Brewery has added another four medals to its impressive roster of awards. TAPS brought home two golds for Biere de Garde and Porter, and two bronze medals for Kellerbier and TAPS signature Cream Ale. Seventy judges blind-tasted nearly 650 beers in 80 categories for the 13th annual Los Angeles International Wine, Spirits & Beer Competitions, part of the L.A. County Fair, which runs from August 30 through September 29. Since opening in 1999, TAPS has received 60 medals in beer competitions ranging from international to regional. In celebration of its winnings, TAPS is featuring Biere de Garde at its Happy Hour price of $4 while it lasts.
Summer also brings back a favorite TAPS tradition: Brewmaster Victor Novak’s seasonal Thomas Jefferson Ale.Also new at TAPS for summer is MJoe (Em-Joe), a Raw Honey Beer. Challenged by TAPS owner-founder Joe Manzella to create a summer wheat beer, Novak and the Brew Crew have played off of a Swedish honey beer called Mjod.
