The Orange County Visitors Association (OCVA) of California will launch a new tourism information website on March 31 targeting Chinese travelers to the destination known around the world as The OC. At the same time, OCVA announced plans to begin telling The OC story on WeChat, the first mobile phone text and voice messaging communications application in the world.
According to Ed Fuller, OCVA’s president and chief executive officer, the new site is part of a strategic marketing initiative to make it easier for international visitors to access information about Orange County on-line and to present the destination’s tourism story in a way most familiar to Chinese travelers.
The new website will enable travelers in China to find the latest information about upcoming special events, attractions, recreational activities, places to stay and dine and current tourism packages available in The OC. The site went live March 24th at www.visittheoc.org.cn and links to www.visittheoc.com for additional information and booking guidance.
OCVA will begin telling The OC tourism story on WeChat within the next few months. As of 2013, WeChat had 600 million users and currently is highly influential in mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Southeast Asia as well as among Chinese people around the world.
