Jar, the highly acclaimed restaurant by Chef Suzanne Tracht, plans a special Passover dinner and service designed to bring families and friends together to celebrate the second night of the holiday, Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. This multi-cultural Seder will offer a singular opportunity to meet three outstanding Middle Eastern teens visiting from Israel and listen to their personal experiences with Ultimate Peace, a groundbreaking summer camp and year-round program in Israel that unites Jewish and Arab youth, using the character-building sport of Ultimate Frisbee as its tool. As members of Ultimate Peace Middle East Leadership program, these Jewish and Arab young leaders play the sport of Ultimate Frisbee together, practice conflict resolution on the field, and coach younger children in their communities.

Instead of the traditional Seder menu, Tracht is featuring a four course dinner that merges her family’s holiday traditions with the flavors and style of Jar’s modern chop house style. Arriving guests receive hors d’oeuvres of House Cured Salmon, Crispy Potato Pancake, Crème Fraiche, Chive; Traditional Chopped Liver; and English Pea Puree, Feta.

After an informal Seder service, dinner begins with Matzo Ball Soup in Lemongrass Broth, Spring Vegetables, followed by a course of Asparagus, Spring Radish and Hard Cooked Egg. Main course is a choice of Jar’s Signature Pot Roast, Carrot, Caramelized Onions, Fingerling Potatoes or Sauteed Alaskan Halibut, Fava, Scallion, Horseradish Mashed Potatoes.

Passover Dessert Platter is abundant with with home-baked Assorted Macaroons, Chocolate Eminence and Lemon Cheesecake.

The seder begins at 5:30 p.m. and is priced at $130 per adult, $55 per child under 12, including Passover wines, coffee or tea, taxes and gratuities. In the spirit of the holiday, guests will be encouraged to contribute to Ultimate Peace, a grass roots non-profit organization. Direct donations to help sustain this vital program will be welcomed by visiting www.ultimatepeace.org
