5ifty Forks is the student-run restaurant on the campus of The Art Institute of California – Orange County, a campus of Argosy University. The restaurant is open when school is in session, and up until this point has been open Tuesday – Friday for lunch only. However recent changes have been made and 5ifty Forks is now open for dinner hours!

5ifty Forks is a petite bistro with a modern fine dining style, drawing inspiration from rich culinary regions. 5ifty Forks was designed to showcase fresh ingredients, locally sourced produce (some from our own garden) and friendly knowledgeable service in a unique environment where great food is the hero. The restaurant features seasonal art installations by local artists, comfortable chairs, natural light, and a fully-equipped professional exhibition kitchen where guests can view students at work.
Students demonstrate the skills they’ve learned through the Culinary program and apply their experience in our real-world restaurant environment. The restaurant is the final passage prior to graduation for final-quarter Culinary program students. Before Culinary students graduate, they are required to run all facets of this fully-operational restaurant. The restaurant is under the direction of two professional chef instructors. The students spend half the quarter in the front of the house as service staff and bartenders focusing on hospitality, customer service, marketing, menu pricing and managing financials. Students rotate into the back of the house working through stations of the brigade, where they learn menu selection, presentation, overall food quality and costs, temperature and timing.
Our enthusiastic chefs-in-training create and serve the cuisine of 5ifty Forks utilizing big flavors profiles, premium ingredients and contemporary presentations. As a guest in the restaurant, we value your active contribution to the kitchen lab, providing feedback about our food and service
