Sizzle With Cinco De Mayo Festival

While the tradition of celebrating Cinco de Mayo can be traced to the days following the American Civil War during which the causes of freedom and democracy were commemorated, today the holiday has taken a broader role and is more a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride.Taking a leading role in commemorating Cinco de Mayo in Long Beach, restaurateur Adrian Amosa is throwing 3 unique celebrations at his Pine Avenue restaurants onMonday, May 5.

·GAUCHO GRILL(200 North Pine Avenue) The lively contemporary restaurant will serve up Dos Empanadas & Beers,2 empanadas of your choice served with 2 Mexican beers (i.e., Corona or Dos Equis) for $10.

·AGAVES KITCHEN & TEQUILA(200-A North Pine Avenue) Next door, Agaves will feature Happy Hour all day with food and drink specials including specially pricedMexican Mule(a Cinco de Mayo twist on the traditional Moscow Mule)andMercadito(Agaves’s signature margarita with a jalapeno/cucumber flair).A DJ will liven up the action starting at6 p.m.

·ALEGRIA(115 North Pine Avenue) -Guests may order taco flights any 3 of their favorite tacos for$7and Happy Hour drink specials will be available all day.Also on the menu will be the winning taco from the Great American Taco Challenge, a contest sponsored by Alegria that will be held onMay 1.Proceeds generated from its sale on Cinco de Mayo will be donated to the winner’s favorite charity.A DJ will liven things up beginning at6 p.m.
