Women in Wine Series

Hotel Casa del Mar toasts top female vintners from around the globe, celebrating their craft and leadership with its Women in Wine series. The series debuted with an inaugural winemaker dinner featuring Heidi von der Mehden of Arrowood Vineyards and Winery in Sonoma Valley on Thursday, June 5, followed by ongoing tasting events and dinners through Fall 2014. Led by Food and Beverage Director Christ Nogulich, alongside the hotel’s seasoned culinary team, additional California vintners who will visit Hotel Casa del Mar include Kate MacMurray of MacMurray Ranch in Sonoma Valley, Tara Gomez of Kitá Wines in Santa Ynez Valley, Sarah Gott of Joel Gott Wines in Saint Helena, and Kathryn Hall of Hall and Walt Wineries, in Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley. Wednesday, June 25 Grand Tasting and Reception with Kate MacMurray, Tara Gomez, and Sara Gott
Guests will sample three Californian wines from three dynamic female winemakers, including Kate MacMurray of MacMurray Ranch-a former actress and screenwriter who is now carrying on her family’s legacy in winemaking; Tara Gomez of Kitá Wines-the country’s first Native American winemaker; and Sarah Gott of Joel Gott Wines-a California native with more than 20 years of experience in the industry. The powerhouse trio will lead guests through a tasting at this reception-style event held inside the hotel’s lobby lounge, the Lounge at Casa at 6:30 p.m. Passed hors d’oeuvres from Mede will be paired with the wines, as guests enjoy live music from the Jasmine Tommaso Trio. Tickets are available for $65 per person.

Monday, September 15 Winemaker Dinner with Kathryn Hall
The vintner for Hall and Walt Wineries, Hall boasts a distinguished career, including over 30 years in the California wine industry. She also served as United States Ambassador to Austria from 1997 until 2001, promoting American wine in the country and throughout Europe. She will be pouring to-be-announced selections from her Napa and Sonoma wineries alongside a special four-course menu from Mede. A reception will be held in the Lounge at Casa at 6:45 p.m., followed by the winemaker dinner at Catch restaurant. Tickets are $160 per person

In addition to these featured events, Hotel Casa del Mar further celebrates women in wine by offering a dedicated wine list at Catch, Terrazza, and the Lounge at Casa, featuring exclusively wineries with female winemakers. Wines are available by the glass and carafe, and include imported selections from Trimbach Estate, Bodega Catena Zapata, Arigolas Winery, and more.
