Tam O’Shanter, a member of the Lawry’s family of restaurants and one of the oldest restaurants in Los Angeles, is hosting a fall Scotch dinner event featuring unique pairings and amazing single malt scotches from the master of malt, Glenmorangie Distillery. The event will occur on Thursday, September 25 at 6:30 p.m.; cost is $75 per person plus tax and gratuity, and reservations are available immediately by calling the Tam at (323) 664-0228.

The Glenmorangie Scotch Dinner at the Tam will include a four-course dinner with four select single malt scotches. The pairings-created by the Tam’s executive chef Mark Kalenderian and in-house whiskey expert John Maraffi-will be:

Spirit 1: Glenmorangie Nectar D’or (12yr)

  • Tasting Notes: Ginger, nutmeg and toasted almonds bring a deep, warming taste interwoven with a syrupy lemon meringue and honeycomb middle
  • Food Pairing: Savory charred octopus with grilled lemon aioli, castelveltrano olives, new potatoes, scotch-soaked golden raisins, cilantro and chili oil

Spirit 2: Lastanta (12yr)

  • Tasting Notes: Deliciously sweet sherry flavored sultanas, orange segments, walnuts and butterscotch combine to create complex warm spices
  • Food Pairing: Delicious BLT featuring bacon-crusted honeybee gouda, heirloom tomato chutney and arugula

Spirit 3: The Original (10yr)

  • Tasting Notes: First, vanilla is detected on the tongue before it ripples along the palate bringing a burst of flowery fruitiness
  • Food Pairing: Mouth-watering grilled duck with preserved orange risotto, citrus gremolata and duck skin cracklings

Spirit 4: Extremely Rare (18yr)

  • Tasting Notes: A balance between honey, malt and flowery scents. Dates and figs emerge in the background with a hint of wood smoke
  • Food Pairing: Unforgettable cardamom cookie sundae with cappuccino ice cream and CC Browns’ hot fudge

“The Glenmorangie Scotch Dinner promises to be an incredible event,” says John Lindquist, general manager. “These unique pairings will deliver a wide range of delicious flavors and memorable experiences all in one evening. Anyone who loves great food and great scotch will be overjoyed.”
