ABOUT
EAST
BOROUGH: East Borough is the first concept from Paul Hibler, founder of Pitfire Artisan Pizza, and John Cao and Chef Chloe Tran, two entrepreneurs and co-owners of the original East Borough in Orange County. In the heart of Culver City, the restaurant offers an innovative interpretation of French-Vietnamese cuisine, while still respecting the traditions of Southeast Asian cooking. Tran, who studied interior design and worked professionally in the field of restaurant design at Orange County’s Hatch Design Group, developed the design of East Borough with Hibler, who is known for the award-winning, progressive design and neighborhood-friendly atmosphere of all his concepts. East Borough is a concept from American Gonzo Food Corporation, a restaurant incubator by Hibler. East Borough is located at 9810 Washington Blvd. in Culver City. The eatery is open for brunch, lunch, communal hour, and dinner and features a full bar. For more information, visit www.east-borough.com or the restaurant on Facebook or Twitter.
ABOUT
AMERICAN
GONZO FOOD
CORPORATION:
American Gonzo Food Corporation was developed by Paul Hibler, a hospitality pioneer known for delivering uncompromising standards at good value. The innovative restaurant group assembles teams of chefs, designers, and entrepreneurs to collaborate and develop dining concepts and emerging brands. The company draws its name from “Gonzo” journalist Hunter S. Thompson, whom Hibler credits with representing honesty and accountability in a somewhat countercultural context-qualities that bode well for independent restaurant ventures. The American Gonzo Food Corporation restaurant family includes Superba Snack Bar, acclaimed Venice pastaria and the company’s first venture, Pie Society, a speakeasy-style bar connected to Pitfire Artisan Pizza in Costa Mesa, CA, East Borough, a French-Vietnamese restaurant in Culver City, and Superba Food & Bread in Venice. Additional concepts, utilizing new teams of chefs, designers, and investors-and featuring unique interpretations of various ethnic cuisines-are currently in the development stages.
