Two Saturdays:May 16th & 23rd, 3 pm to 10 pm
On Founder’s Day we celebrate the birthday of Friedrich Conrad, the second owner of Anaheim Brewery. This cat ran the place for 35 years and made it rock. If he were alive today, he’d be turning 166!
All in all, Anaheim Brewery ran from 1870 to 1920. That’s half a century, friends. The last couple of years it was called Union Brewing Co, but the product was still”Famous Anaheim Beer.”
After Prohibition shut down the joint, it took us 90 years to get our act together. But in mid-May of 2011, we started making beer at the re-established Anaheim Brewery. All in all, that makes it our 54th Anniversary!
Mayor Tom Tait will be on hand to tap a keg of Conrad’s Kolsch to kick things off on the 16th. We’ll be handing out commemorative buttons to the first 166 guests!
On Saturday, May 23rd, we’ll host the first ever Friedrich Conrad Look-Alike Contest. All ages, genders, and species may enter.
The grills will be smokin’ with bratwurst and more from Tony’s Deli on the 16th and by K&A on the 23rd. There will be plenty of tasty snacks from Anaheim’s own Kettle Corn King.
So swing in for some German tunes from Almrausch Tanzlmusi and some soul-satisfying blues from Brother Yusef. Raise a couple of glasses to whatever you’re celebrating! Happy Birthday! Here’s to Your Anniversary! Prost!
