In response to the shortage of key staples needed by the Orange County Rescue Mission for its food boxes, Newport Beach-based Daddy Cakes has set an example for other area businesses to follow by hosting a pancake breakfast that collected 375 pounds of canned goods and raised enough funds to feed 231 hungry children, women and men. The public was invited to donate either $5 per person or bring five cans of food/non-perishable items to the breakfast held at the OC Rescue Mission’s Village of Hope and, in addition to Daddy Cakes pancakes, enjoyed coffee provided by Peet’s Coffee & Tea at The District in Tustin.
