Expo West: Packing 100,000 Meals for Local Needy Families

512

One of the ironies of the Expo West conference is the disparity between the abundance of food inside the convention center and the empty pantries of economically disadvantaged local residents. In response, the non-profit division of natural/organic food wholesaler KeHE Distributors has organized an event just outside the Anaheim Convention Center from 7:30-10 am on Thursday, March 7, to benefit the Children’s Hunger Fund.

With truckloads of food donated by KeHE vendors, the event will:

–       Pack 2,000 boxes with enough food to provide almost 100,000 meals

–       Include staples such as pasta, rice, lentils, tuna, nutrition bars, applesauce                and more

–       Deliver finished meal boxes to local families that afternoon

–       Be co-sponsored by Expo West producer New Hope Network

–       Include local dignitaries volunteering their time

–       Provide great photo ops and ‘feel good’ interview opportunities

–       Be the largest serving event ever held at Expo West
