Helmsman Ale House, today announced the hiring of Dylan Mobley, an experienced and award-winning craft brewer, to serve as Head Brewer at the company’s Newport Beach, California brewery and eatery. The new concept, which is scheduled to open in summer 2019, is operated by Mario Marovic’s Newport Beach-based LoungeGroup. As Head Brewer, Mr. Mobley will be responsible for brewing operations, quality control, and brewery management. Mr. Mobley brings to the company over 6 years’ experience in the craft beer business, specifically the successful management of brewing and related operations. Like many in the craft brewing industry, Mobley began as a home brewer. Looking to turn his hobby into a career, Mobley attended the prestigious Siebel Institute in Chicago, Illinois and Munich, Germany, where he completed its highly-regarded WBA Master Brewer Program.

“We are very pleased to have someone as talented and experienced as Dylan join our team and lead brewing operations,” said Mario Marovic, co-owner and managing partner for Helmsman Ale House. “We have a great deal of confidence in his marked ability in crafting great tasting beer and that’s something we’re naturally all very excited about.

“I’m thrilled and couldn’t be happier to head brewery operations. I looked at it as a challenge, but also a very unique and fun opportunity,” commented Mobley. “Not only in further refining what we can do with beer tastes and styles, but working alongside a talented culinary team that will surely inspire countless possibilities for many new fresh and seasonal ingredients. In addition to our flagship Newport Beach Blonde, we’ll be constantly experimenting with IPAs, Hazy IPAs, Mexican lagers, Berliner Weiss’s, Pastry Stout’s, and many more. As the brand grows, we may also play with some barrel aging. This was one of those opportunities I just couldn’t pass up.”
