Josiah Citrin’s Coast Restaurant Becomes Costa Manhattan Beach

1934

Costa Manhattan Beach, the newest restaurant concept from iconic chef Josiah Citrin, debuted in Fall 2019 just steps away from the Manhattan Beach Pier. This landmark opening is Chef Josiah’s first foray into the South Bay, where he aims to bring his signature culinary style to a new neighborhood and establish the restaurant as an inviting, everyday eatery for the community. Costa Manhattan Beach has a distinctly coastal feel, letting in the sunny Manhattan Beach vibes from a full wall of windows. This new concept is one of several significant initiatives from Citrin Hospitality in 2019, alongside the opening of Dear John’s in Culver City; the re-opening of the reimagined tasting-menu-only Mélisse; the launch of the new, upscale, and inviting Citrin in Santa Monica; and the release of Chef Josiah’s cookbook, Charcoal: New Ways to Cook with Fire.

Given the seaside location, Costa Manhattan Beach’s menu features the bounty of the ocean with seafood appetizers such as Octopus with sweet potato, preserved lemon, and harissa, complimented by crowd-pleasing pastas like the fan-favorite Paccheri with arrabbiata and parmesan, and culminates with larger format meat and seafood mains. The cocktail menu is reflective of the surfside location of Costa Manhattan Beach, highlighting bold and tropical flavors in creative applications, as seen in the Today Was a Good Day, made with mezcal, pineapple, cilantro, lime, passion fruit, and agave.

Costa Manhattan Beach is open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday and reservations are available on Resy.
