California Wine Festival, Southern California’s premier wine festival event producer, is thrilled to return to Dana Point on Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29 with nearly 250 wines from over 70 wineries, 30 of Orange County’s fine dining restaurants, gourmet food purveyors, live entertainment, and lifestyle exhibitors in an oceanfront setting.
Guests are invited to the Sunset Rare & Reserve Tasting on Friday, Aust 28 to sip on fine wines and taste a variety of delicacies overlooking the ocean at the beautiful Laguna Cliffs Marriott. This elegant VIP event for true fine wine lovers includes a champagne reception and an evening of sampling hard-to-find trophy wines. On Saturday, August 29, the quintessential California wine tasting experience continues with the Beachside Wine Festival that pairs sun, sea, food, wine and music at Dana Point’s grassy, palm-lined Lantern Bay Park.
“We are so excited to be back in Dana Point to showcase an awesome selection of fine wines,” said Emily Kaufmann, Executive Director of California Wine Festival. “The beautiful coastal backdrop creates an unforgettable experience for wine enthusiasts to experience the best California wines.”
The two-day festival shines a light on rare and reserve vintages as well as fan-favorite pours from California’s best vineyards based in Napa Valley, Sonoma County, Paso Robles, Santa Barbara, Temecula and more. California’s most awarded California sparkling wine producer, Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards, will be pouring its critically acclaimed sparkling wines from Sonoma County. Bernardus Winery from Monterey County will be sampling its specialty Bordeaux and Burgundy styles that flatter the palate and stimulate the imagination. Award-winning, sustainably produced wines will be flowing from Paso Robles’ Halter Ranch. Summit Lake Vineyards & Winery, a small, family-owned and operated winery in Howell Mountain will be serving its outstanding red varietals produced from the distinctive red soils and micro-climate of the region. Mendocino County’s Navarro Vineyards will be pouring its delicious and hard to find limited production wines. Unlimited tastes of nearly every type of wine will be available for guests to learn about the unique and delicious wines from all of California’s distinct wine regions.
California Wine Festival also highlights culinary education and exploration through one-on-one conversations with world-class professional chefs serving complimentary gourmet appetizers. Chefs from Trevor’s at the Tracks, Glasspar, Waterman’s and H.H. Cottons will be in attendance and are proud members of The Surfrider Foundation’s Ocean Friendly Restaurants program. The program offers criteria for restaurants to make sustainable choices for the ocean including proper recycling practices, eliminating plastic bags for taking out or to-go orders, eliminating expanded polystyrene use and more. Proceeds from auctions at the California Wine Festival Dana Point benefit Surfrider Foundation of South Orange and Sandy Feet Initiative, an organization dedicated to recognizing and supporting siblings of children with special needs, through instructional and safe beach days.
While pairing wine with samples of artisan cheeses, fresh-cut fruits, bread, olive oil, chocolate and more, guests can listen to live music and take in views of California’s beautiful coastal landscape. Friday’s Rare & Reserve Tasting features live entertainment from Adam Lasher, a 2016 season finalist on FOX’s “American Idol.” Upstream, SoCal’s premier live reggae, calypso, soca, and steel drum band will perform at Saturday’s Beachside Wine Festival.
