Springtime Supper Club at Bayside, Featuring Benny Benack III

Coming off a two-week run at New York’s Café Carlyle, Benny is excited to be making his 3rd appearance at Sunset Jazz. By age 28, Benny had proven to be a rare talent, not only a fiery trumpet player (causing Tom Scott to say, “I’ll take Benny anytime for my band”), but also a singer with a sly, mature, naturally expressive delivery in the post-Sinatra mold, performing standards and his own astute songs with a thrilling sense of showmanship. Joining Benny will be his specially hand-picked trio from L.A. with pianist Gary Matsumoto, currently touring with Steve Tyrell; bassist Alex Frank, frequently with Michael Feinstein and drummer Ryan Shaw, who is a member of Graham Dechter’s Lineage Trio.
