Nostalgia is a dish best served warm – preferably with a Scotch chaser fireside on the private brick back patio at The Parlour Room of Hollywood, officially opening tomorrow (though we just heard they might be pouring a few at the handsome new spot tonight). The latest from denizen of drink Craig Trager (No Bar, The Woods, et al), what was formerly super-dive Goldfinger is now a refined watering hole blending an appreciation for the old neighborhood (no fussy door policy or dress code) with a tip of the hat to its Tinseltown roots (antique chandeliers give off that luxe amber glow).
Queue up the jukebox then casually kick back with a crafted cocktail like the Maple Julep – a smooth mix of bourbon, maple syrup, and mint – or Blood and Sand – a Scotch, sweet vermouth, Cherry Heering liqueur, cherry juice, and fresh orange ditty. Or share Belgian strong ale Allagash Grand Cru, served by the 750-milliliter bottle.
And then there’s the $5 martini, priced just like the good ole days.
The Parlour Room of Hollywood, 6423 Yucca Street, between North Cahuenga Boulevard and North Wilcox Avenue, Hollywood (323-463-0609).
