At the conclusion of the Fall 2010 dineLA Restaurant Week, LA INC. The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau and American Express are excited to announce the two-week dining event provided the city an estimated $5.2 million economic boost and attracted 158,000 diners to restaurants throughout the city. dineLA became the largest restaurant week in the country this fall with nearly 300 restaurants offering specially priced three-course prix-fix lunch and dinner menus from October 3-8 and October 10-15 and generated record-breaking revenues in the program’s sixth season.
“There is an important point to make about dineLA’s Fall 2010 Restaurant Week. Even as the program continues to grow and includes more restaurants, we are still seeing an increase in sales,” says Mark Liberman, president and CEO of LA INC. “The program increased the number of participating restaurants by 28% and still increased the average estimated revenue for participating restaurants by 5.6%. This is great news for LA’s economy.”
Chefs throughout Los Angeles also reported a boost in business as a result of the Fall 2010 dineLA Restaurant Week. Bouchon Bistro Chef & Owner Thomas Keller notes, “Having just opened Bouchon in Beverly Hills last fall, this was our first opportunity to participate in dineLA Restaurant Week. We were thrilled with the reach and the response we received from its supporters. We look forward to joining again next year!”
A hotel & dining program was added to dineLA Restaurant Week for the first time this fall, allowing hotel properties with participating restaurants to offer special dineLA rates and culinary packages. The goal of the new program was to increase regional and national visitors to Los Angeles during Restaurant Week. Hoteliers throughout the city, including Mehdi Eftekari, General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills, saw an increase in room bookings from the dineLA hotel & dining program. “We were thrilled with the success of dineLA’s Fall 2010 Restaurant Week at Culina, Modern Italian,” says Eftekari. “The two-week program introduced our new, award-winning restaurant Culina to additional locals LA residents and the dineLA room package resulted in numerous bookings.”
