Sentinel Restaurant & Hospitality Group, the team behind Driftwood Kitchen and The Deck on Laguna Beach concepts, just opened their newest Orange County restaurant, Hendrix, on Friday, April 7th, at the Ocean Ranch Village in Laguna Niguel (32431 Golden Lantern, Laguna Niguel). This neighborhood restaurant will offer a style of cuisine that reflects the current “New American” trend, which assimilates flavors from the melting pot of traditional American cooking techniques. Executive Chef Rainer Schwarz’s menu items will include recognizable preparations and emphasize the main ingredient at its best. These will include popular cuts of fish, steaks and chops as well as rotisserie items with interesting and flavorful accompaniments and appetizers reflecting seasonal availability and quality.
“In bringing together simple and honest flavors, Hendrix will specialize in fresh seafood and fire-roasted meats,” commented Chef Schwarz, Partner in Sentinel’s restaurants, along with John Nye and Colby Durnin. “Our goal is to be a neighborhood restaurant that highlights local and seasonal ingredients, and delivers an experience that is approachable and desired.”
Some of the standout dishes from Hendrix’s rotisserie will include spit-roasted Porcetta and Colorado Rack of Lamb, which will be available for takeaway and in-house dining as entrees or sharable platters. The menu will also include Fried Catfish, Double R Ranch Bone-In Ribeye, Scottish Cedar-Planked Salmon, and Rotisserie Chicken & Fontina Flatbread. Guests will be able to begin their meal with freshly made-to-order Zucchini Cornbread with honey compound butter with sea salt, and end with Austrian Apple Strudel, inspired by Chef Schwarz’s youth.
Hendrix Restaurant will feature a full bar with a beverage program that will include a mix of signature drinks, a quality draft program reflecting the American craft movement, and an easy-to-navigate wine list full of favorites at recognizably good pricing. Wines will be on display in the restaurant so diners can shop for their desired bottle at near retail price.
“Our Beverage Program at Hendrix has something for every occasion – from an after-work cocktail, beer during the game, or great wine for that special celebration,” commented John Nye, Director of Operations, who also oversees the daily operations of both Driftwood Kitchen and its sister restaurant, The Deck on Laguna. “We want to serve simple, honest foods and beverages in an inviting, relaxed atmosphere.”
Hendrix is set to open in late-March 2017 at the Ocean Ranch Village in Laguna Niguel (32431 Golden Lantern). For more information, visit www.
