A WORLD OF TASTE, CLOSE TO HOME: THE DETOUR BISTRO BAR, A NEW FARM-TO-TABLE RESTAURANT OPENS IN CULVER CITY
Neighborhood Restaurant Brings Quality, Value-Driven Local Dining Experience And Unique Wine Program To Los Angeles
Los Angeles locals, Ranni Kumgisky and Dane Pearson met while playing AVP Beach Volleyball on the beaches of Southern California. Their determination and teamwork that worked for them on the court is also paying off for them in business. The long-time caterers and business partners, are excited to announce the grand opening of The Detour Bistro Bar in Culver City. Events for the grand opening will kick off around the first week of April with an invitation-only preview, where media and special guests will sample from the restaurant’s new spring menus, and will conclude with the public introduction of lunch service to start on April 6th.
The farm-to-table restaurant is the local duo’s first restaurant and follows the success of their previous company, Great Dane Catering and Events, which achieved significant acclaim. The approachable restaurant concept plans to execute traditional European cuisine, seasonal California inspired dishes, signature house-created small and large plates, and showcase an impressive wine cellar with hand-selected wine, well-suited for casual dining, business meetings or special occasions. Kumgisky will oversee the daily culinary operations of restaurant with a weekly menu that includes an eclectic selection of tasty lunch, dinner and weekend brunch plates and Pearson will continue to be responsible for the operations of the catering company with some cross-over at the restaurant.
“When we saw the opportunity to open an original restaurant in Culver City, we could not pass it up,” said Co-Owner Ranni Kumgisky. “We sought to create a neighborhood restaurant and bar that was for locals, by locals, and emphasized local produce. And that is what The Detour Bistro Bar is.”
At The Detour Bistro Bar, guests can enjoy outstanding and original culinary creations, many of which have been inspired by European trends and flavors, with small dishes “bites” such as: Roasted Curry Cauliflower with garlic aioli, Leg of Lamb Pita Pockets with roasted lamb, mediterranean salad, tahini sauce, Shrimp Tacos with mango avocado salsa & corn tortillas, Crab Cakes served with house made aioli and Watermelon, Feta & Mint salad; large dishes “eats” such as: Cubano Sandwich slow cooked pork, pepper jack, ham, pickles & mustard, Seafood Paella with shrimp, scallops, calamari, white fish, chicken, port and veggies, Mushroom Risotto with Shiitake and Crimini mushrooms, peas and truffle oil, Veal Pasta farfalle pasta with mushrooms, onion, and white wine sauce, and Ahi Tuna Salad with sushi grade tuna, cucumber, cherry tomato, radish, ginger and asian dressing; and desserts such as: Home-made Cookies with Tiramisu Ice Cream. Brunch includes a selection of Omlettes, Salmon Benedict & Eggs Benedict, Detour Scramble, and French Toast.
The Detour Bistro Bar provides a laid back and casual environment while guests enjoy tasty food and wine from around the world without being far from home. The restaurant prides itself on making everything from scratch, including the baking of its own bread. And, if that is not enough, the restaurant boasts a beautiful indoor and outdoor concept with a patio and deck that are pet-friendly and provide fresh air, natural light, and iconic Los Angeles views.
The Detour Bistro Bar is located in Culver City at 12473 W. Washington Blvd. and opens at 3pm Monday – Friday for happy hour and dinner, and 10am on weekends for brunch. After the Grand Opening, lunch service will being on April 6th and the restaurant will start opening at 11am on weekdays.
