URBAN PLATES JUST OPENED ITS SECOND O.C. LOCATION JULY 11, 2016
Urban Plates, the polished fast-casual restaurant that made its successful Orange County debut last year in Irvine, just opened their second O.C. location at The Market Place early 2015.
Virtually all of Urban Plates’ food is prepared from scratch throughout the day, from made-to-order salads to hot entree plates of grilled fish or steak to daily-made braises and stews to sandwiches, prepared side dishes and flatbreads and pizzettes. With high-ceilings and rustic wood decor, Urban Plates offers cafeteria-style service in a fresh and modern environment that’s perfect for families. Guests are invited to simply grab a tray and head to the desired food station to place an order.
Standouts on the diverse menu include the $10 hot entrees such as the seared wild ono with chimichurri sauce, grilled all-natural beef, BBQ turkey meatloaf or honey-mustard oven baked salmon, all of which comes with two hot or cold sides. There’s even housecrafted sodas and fresh pressed fruit juices. And don’t forget the giant selection of tempting housemade desserts: there’s beautiful cakes, cookies and puddings galore.
The aim is to bring high-quality, made-from-scratch food at reasonable price points: ingredients are sourced from local farms whenever possible, including organic and non-GMP products.
Urban Plates is also committed to being environment-friendly. The community tables, which are the centerpieces in the restaurants, were made from fallen Coastal Oak trees that have become victims of the Bark Beetle. These downed trees are removed after a permit is obtained so they are not fuel for fires, and then made into furniture. Urban Plates also uses compostable paper liners for its trays and to-go beverage containers and takeout food containers are made from recycled soda bottles.
