Ned Elliott, chef of the critically acclaimed Austin restaurant Foreign & Domestic and founder of INDIE CHEFS WEEK, announces a partnership with Yahoo Food that will take the culinary event series on the road for the first time. INDIE CHEFS WEEK is a series founded by Elliott in 2013 that brings together an array of chefs from across the country to showcase their talents at a pop-up style event. Elliott will host the next installment of the series Thursday, October 16 through Saturday, October 18 at Taco Maria in Costa Mesa, California.
The three-day event will boast a diverse lineup of over 25 talented young chefs who will prepare a variety of signature specialties at host restaurant Taco Maria, owned by Chef Carlos Salgado. Salgado is a veteran of Indie Chefs Week Austin, and is excited to help in its expansion to Orange County.
The Indie Chefs Week series in Costa Mesa will consist of three distinct events. Both Thursday, October 16 and Friday, October 17 will introduce a unique lineup of more than a dozen chefs, allowing guests to socialize with the visiting cooks and enjoy a 12-course menu, specially prepared for the event, along with a selection of beverages. The series will culminate with a final event on Saturday, October 18 that will present the entire lineup of over 25 chefs showcasing an elaborate 20-course tasting menu. There are two dining options that include counter and table seating. Prices range from $175 per person for dinner at a table, $225 counter seating on Thursday – Friday to $250 table seating and $300 per person for dinner at the counter on Saturday. “We are excited that Indie Chefs Week is spreading out across the country while bringing together dedicated chefs to cook, collaborate, and inspire. We curated this series to showcase chefs with strong viewpoints who can share ideas and inspire each other,” says Elliott. “Indie Chefs Week began as a way to create a dialogue that isn’t just online – it’s a face-to-face meeting of the country’s best young chefs.”
Indie Chefs Week was created by Elliott to provide a platform for chefs as they cook dishes that inspire, tease, and keep them awake at night. The series provides the public with a unique insight to the innovations in the culinary world and the creative chefs behind them.
