Calling All Gelato Artisans
Since 2010, Gelato Festival has had eight editions with more than 2,000 artisans competing in 60 Festivals all over Europe and has traveled over 32,000 km. Currently, the Gelato Festival is on tour, stopping in eight European cities.
Starting in October of 2017, right after the European Finals hosted in Florence, the organization will hold four competitions in the western part of the United States: Boulder, Santa Barbara, Tucson and Scottsdale. Artisans and chefs will go through a rigorous selection process in order to compete in one of these four stages with a unique, one-time flavor specially created for the Gelato Festival. The winner will then compete in a grand finale with other stage winners.
Gelato artisans and pastry chefs who wish to compete, don’t wait! Submit the application online by visiting the website at gelatofestivalamerica.com for a chance to be selected.
In the United States, the purpose of the Gelato Festival runs much deeper than just experiencing taste-bud tingling, serious flavor combinations that you can only find in artisan Italian gelato and sorbetto. According to Daniele Palazzoni, General Manager of Gelato Festival America, “After the huge success all over Europe, now it’s time for the American Dream. Our goal is to spread the culture of artisan Italian gelato throughout the world’s largest consumer market for frozen desserts, focusing on the higher quality of this product compared to all others. Together, with the best gelato industry players, we will help artisans build their own success in the United States market. With more than 20 stops on our tour over the next two years we will be visiting a city near you, obviously, with the best gelato ever.”
