California certified farmers’ markets are the real thing – places where genuine farmers sell fruits, nuts and vegetables directly to the public. Every farmer who sells at a certified market is inspected by the county agricultural commissioner to make sure he/she actually grows the commodity being sold.
*Old Town Temecula California-Certified Farmers Market.
“Deliciousness itself,” is how Mark Twain described cherimoyas. The prehistoric-looking, tropical fruit-flavored, winter crop is a highlight of the Winterfest January-February season at the Saturday morning, Old Town Temecula California-Certified Farmers Market. Outstanding blood oranges, navel oranges, and kumquats are also in season. Local farmers, growers, and artisan food purveyors display fresh, California-grown, directly-from-the-farmer, tree-and-vine-ripened, fruits and vegetables (organic, exotic, and conventional), artisan foods, fresh-baked goods, and colorful, fresh-cut flower bouquets. Fresh avocados and citrus are available year-round. Location is Sixth Street between Old Town Front and Mercedes, just south of the northern Old Town gateway arch.
