Chef Maiki Le
Chef Maiki Le has an esteemed reputation working with Chef Josie Le Balch, to open concepts Momed Beverly Hills, Josie Restaurant and Next Door by Josie. From there, Le went on to hold the position of Head Chef at Belcampo Meat Co. Along the way, she celebrated victories on Chopped and Food Network’s 24-Hour Restaurant Battle.
While her base techniques may be classic, her flavors and ingredients have been inspired by the talented chefs she’s worked with. Chef Maiki’s current menu at Upstairs 2 mixes old world hospitality with cutting-edge flavor combinations.
Initially when partnering with the Upstairs 2 team, Chef Maiki was immediately bowled over by their history in the industry as well as their passion for their work. Upstairs 2 is above the critically acclaimed The Wine House, which has been open for over 35 years, and LA’s largest wine store.
Now, Chef Maiki creates and executes the menu, highlighting local, seasonal produce, responsibly sourced meats and fish while balancing the flavors with the style of wine each plate pairs with in an approachable way. The Californian/New American small plates embody a global, eccentric feel, with menu changes not only seasonally, but with sources of inspiration.
