Chef Michael Cimarusti Since its debut in 2005, Providence has been hailed by critics as one of America’s top restaurants, and one of the last bastions of fine dining in Los Angeles. Helmed by Executive Chef/Co-Owner Michael Cimarusti, Providence’s seafood-centric, multi-course tasting menus are centered on reverence for world-class fish cookery that reinforces the principles of sustainability and seasonality. A James Beard Award nominee, Cimarusti is a highly regarded authority in the industry due to his knowledge of seafood and strong relationships with purveyors. Under his leadership, Providence was awarded two Michelin stars—one of only three restaurants in the city to earn this distinction. For the past two years, Pulitzer Prize-winning restaurant critic for the Los Angeles Times, Jonathan Gold, named Providence #1 on his list of “101 Best Restaurants.” Providence celebrated its landmark 10th anniversary in June 2015. In Fall 2015, Cimarusti will open a new sustainable seafood shop called Cape Seafood & Provisions in Los Angeles.
