Ryu Isobe was born in 1988 in Tokyo, Japan. At the age of fourteen, he left Japan and moved to Hawaii, wanting to experience the American way of life. While attending USC for undergrad, Ryu frequented many of the local ramen dives and was thoroughly disappointed by the state of ramen in the USA. They resembled nothing like the rich and delicious soul food he grew up loving at home in Japan. Ryu decided America deserved better in the world of ramen and took it upon himself to build a beautiful, modern ramen restaurant with high quality ingredients, hand-made noodles, bold flavors, and rich, flavorful tonkotsu broth.
