THE FOWLER MUSEUM AT UCLA

Join KCRW for the 6th Annual Good Food Pie Contest at the Fowler Museum. The celebrated event returns this year on Sunday, October 5th to Wilson Plaza, adjacent to the Fowler Museum at UCLA. For the sixth year in a row, home cooks and professionals alike will be judged by some of LA’s best chefs and food writers. Enter a pie, cheer on the competitors, visit the Fowler galleries, or just come by and enjoy a slice. Good Food’s Evan Kleiman will preside over the afternoon pie festivities which will include music provided by KCRW DJ Anne Litt, pie tasting, food trucks, kids activities and more!

To enter your pie please visit our tickets pagehere. This year there are seven categories:

Fruit

Nut

Cream/Chiffon/Silk

Cooked Custard

Savory

Vegan

World Pie (inspired by theFowler Museum’s collections)

Contestants are limited to one entry per category but may enter in as many categories as they like. Ribbons are awarded for first, second and third place in each category. A ribbon will also be awarded for the Best Crust.

The cost to enter is $10 per entry. Bakers are required to bake two pies for each entry – one for the judges and one to serve to the public.

The deadline to enter your pie is Sunday, September 28th at 11:55pm. No exceptions.

Contestants will receive a confirmation email on Monday, September 29th. This email will include detailed information on where and when to drop off your pies.

Contestants will be expected to slice and serve their pie(s) to the public. We will provide plates, forks and pie cutters. Please note that there will be no refrigeration available this year.

Not a baker? Come by and cheer on the contestants, tour the galleries, participate in family day activities and of course, taste some pie.

The event is free and open to the public.

For pie tasting, guests are asked to find the KCRW Welcome Table at Wilson Plaza. Tickets are limited based on the number of entries and will be given to guests on a first come, first served basis. Pie tasting begins at 2pm, but the line forms early, so arrive in advance to secure your pie tasting ticket.

The Fowler Museum is hosting a special Kids in the Courtyard event from 1 to 4pm. Kids can make their own mini pie, take a food-themed tour of Intersections: World Arts/Local Lives, and create a kitchen accessory. The museum galleries are open from noon to 5pm on the day of the contest. Entry to the museum and the Kids in the Courtyard event is free.

The lawns surrounding the Fowler Museum are ideal for picnics. Bring a blanket and grab food from the food trucks on site or any of the campus eateries close by.
