On August 22nd, the 9th Annual Day-Lee Foods World Gyoza Eating Championship (the premiere eating event on the West Coast) will host one of the strongest fields of competitive eaters EVER assembled, where they will devour as many gyoza as possible in 10 minutes.
Last summer, Matt “The Megatoad” Stonie (ranked #1 by Major League Eating) and Joey “Jaws” Chestnut (#2) shattered the world record of 268 gyoza in 10 minutes by more than 100 gyoza. Chestnut consumed a mind-blowing 384 gyoza—which adds up to about 15 pounds of potstickers—and Stonie came in second with 377. This year, Chestnut will be vying to defend his title against Stonie, who very recently shocked the competitive eating world when he robbed Chestnut of what would have been his 9th consecutive win at the infamous hot dog eating competition in Coney Island.
Stonie and Chestnut and will be competing among a field of MLE stars including Miki Sudo (#4), Erik Denmark (#6), Adrian Morgan (#7), Michelle Lesco (#8), Juliet Lee (#9), Eric “Badlands” Booker (#12), Pablo Martinez (#13), and Steve Hendry (#14).
