Keep the tradition of Mother’s Day brunch alive by spicing it up May 8 with the highly praised Mexican cuisine at Ixcateco Grill (3402 W. Montrose, Albany Park, 773-539-5887), named one of Chicago’s best new restaurants for 2016 by Chicago Magazine.
Ixcateco Grill’s creative, seasonal menu and warm and inviting atmosphere make it the perfect place to celebrate this special day. Chef/owner Anselmo Ramirez will serve Mother’s Day specials for brunch 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. as well as dinner, 5:30 to 10 p.m., on Sunday, May 8.
For Mother’s Day Brunch, enjoy items from Ixcateco Grill’s popular brunch menu including starters such as the Ensalada de Betabel ($7) a salad made with roasted beets, jicama, watercress, goat cheese, and candy pecans tossed in a Pasilla Orange dressing; or the housemade Yogurt ($6), served with fresh fruit, honey agave and garnished with granola, for a lighter beginning.
Choose from brunch entrées such the Enchiladas ($11), rolled corn tortillas stuffed with poultry carnitas, scrambled eggs, and serrano pepper covered in salsa loca and finished with melted Chihuahua cheese, onions and cilantro; or the signature Huevos Divorciados ($12) comprised, on one side of the plate, with a fried egg served on a crispy tortilla with black beans, covered in Molcajete sauce and garnished with chorizo and queso ranchero and, on the other side, a poached egg served on top of a masa boat with mashed potatoes covered in salsa loca garnished with crispy ham, sour cream and queso ranchero.
For dinner, enjoy dishes from Ixcateco Grill’s newly unveiled spring menu, featuring new entrées including the vegetarian Chiles Rellenos, roasted poblano peppers stuffed with sautéed vegetables, Oaxacan cheese, and served in tesmole ($14.50); Camaron Tequilero, wood grilled shrimp served in a tomato Oaxacan pasilla tequila sauce, accompanied with parsnip purée, garnished with Three Sisters Garden micro greens ($17.50). Chef Anselmo’s signature Pollo En Mole Negro, half a boneless roasted chicken served in black mole, accompanied with chunky garlic mashed potatoes and garnished with Three Sisters Garden micro greens ($16), and Carne Asada, adobo marinated wood grilled skirt steak, served with tomato molcajete sauce, black beans and guacamole ($18) are also excellent choices.
