Downtown Brea’s Bustling Restaurant Announces 5th Annual Toy Drive to Benefit Local Families
Cha Cha’s Latin Kitchen is pleased to kick off the holiday season with its fifth annual toy drive to benefit local families in need. Now through Dec. 16, guests are encouraged to drop off a new, unwrapped toy at Cha Cha’s in exchange for a $15 certificate toward Sunday brunch to be redeemed in the new year.
On the heels of Cha Cha’s most recent anniversary event, where they successfully hosted a month-long fundraiser that raised $15,000 in support of a longtime team member diagnosed with kidney cancer, the Latin restaurant is eager to continue the tradition of giving back with its annual toy drive. Last year alone, the community was able to generously donate over 500 toys, putting smiles on the faces of countless children throughout Orange County. Once all the toys are collected and wrapped, Cha Cha’s hosts a special evening for these grateful families that includes a meal featuring signature dishes. Each year, over 50 guests get to enjoy a very touching evening that is concluded with a visit from a loyal guest of Cha Cha’s who is outfitted in a Santa Claus suit, and spends time passing out gifts to the appreciative children.
Since opening its doors in 2009, Cha Cha’s Latin Kitchen has hosted numerous fundraising events with an emphasis on helping the local community. Earlier this year, Cha Cha’s donated $15,000 from the seventh anniversary event to an integral team member, Jaime Palomar, who was recently diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma, a type of kidney cancer. Upon learning this, the owner and entire staff wanted to show their support by helping pay for his surgery. Other recipients of Cha Cha’s consistent generosity includes The Mobile Closet, a local charity that provides clothing and blankets to families in need; a local mother with Stage 3 breast cancer, a beloved bartender who is now cancer-free, and Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, a nonprofit benefiting local hungry families.
These events were developed by Don Myers and Peter Serantoni, the owners of Cha Cha’s, who feel strongly about giving back to their local community. The Latin restaurant is looking forward to hosting more events that will have an impact for local families and connecting with their community in Orange County.
“Since we opened in 2009, we have been overwhelmed by the response of the community and the relationships we’ve created,” says Myers. “It feels great to be able to give back to people in our own backyard and say thank you for all the support.”
