Community Tribute to Jonathan Gold Set for Sunday, August 26 on the Steps of Los Angeles City Hall
WHO: Hosted by Carolina Miranda (L.A. Times Staff Writer) with tributes from Mark Gold (Jonathan’s brother and UCLA Assoc. Vice Chancellor for Environment and Sustainability), Evan Kleiman (KCRW “Good Food”), Laura Gabbert(Producer-Director “City of Gold”), José Huizar (L.A. City Councilmember), Michael Cimarusti (Chef and Co-Owner of Providence), Bricia Lopez (Co-Proprietor at Guelaguetza), Sang Yoon (Chef and Proprietor of Lukshon), and Carl Stone(Composer).
WHAT: Public tribute to the late L.A. Times food critic and ambassador of Angeleno culture, Jonathan Gold. Admission is free.
WHEN: Sunday, August 26, 2018
5:30 p.m.: DJ set by KCRW’s Anthony Valadez and time to picnic or enjoy some of L.A.’s favorite food trucks.
6:30 p.m.: family, friends, chefs and admirers of Mr. Gold share appreciations of his life and legacy
7:30 p.m.: screening of favorite and never-before-seen moments from the documentary film “City of Gold”
8:05 p.m.: event ends
WHERE: 200 N. Spring St., Los Angeles, CA 90012
The tribute will take place at the Spring Street steps of Los Angeles City Hall with space to gather on Spring between 1st and Temple Streets. Public transportation is encouraged. Closest Metro stop is Red Line/Civic Center station. Parking lots can be found here.
