CSULB hosts multi-course beer pairing dinner
The 2nd Annual Handcrafted Hospitality: Dine with a Purpose Fall fundraising event is scheduled for Friday, October 20th, representatives from Cal State Long Beach recently announced . The event will be held from 6 – 10 pm at The Chartroom Restaurant located on the CSULB campus at 1250 Bellflower Blvd in Long Beach. Reception with charcuterie and beer tastings will begin at 5 pm.
This very unique event is presented by students in the CSULB Hospitality Management Department and brings together industry partners, students and faculty in the program, university administrators, and culinary and craft beer aficionados to enjoy a multi-course beer-pairing dinner featuring various craft beers and local chefs. The final course will be presented by the Hospitality Management students, along with live entertainment. In addition to the dinner, there will be a cocktail hour that will feature 2-4 local craft breweries with appetizers. Live entertainment will also be featured. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit the CSULB Hospitality Management Program.
Restaurant courses will be provided by Lucille’s BBQ, BO-beau Kitchen + Roof Tap, Naples Rib Company, Walt’s Wharf, The Reef, Boathouse on the Bay, and Lazy Dog Restaurant. Some of the brewers sponsoring the event include Beachwood BBQ, El Segundo Brewery, Evan’s Brewing Co., and BJ’s Restaurant and Brewery.
“Our annual Handcrafted Hospitality event provides students in our program the opportunity to showcase their skills at managing events in the hospitality industry,” said Lee Blecher, CSULB Hospitality Management Program director and professor. “Craft beer and food pairings being one of the most popular culinary trends right now, we invite Long Beach food lovers to join us for an evening of great food, beer and entertainment.”
