Explore Umbria

If you’ve been following Evan Kleiman for any length of time then you probably know that Italy is his second home. While he can’t lay claim to any one city or region as his absolute favorite, Umbria has always held a special place in his heart. He has been going there regularly for the last 30 years or so, and continues to do so at every chance he gets. He’s planning a big trip there next Spring and he’d love it if you could join him.

One of the reasons Evan goes to Umbria so often is to spend time with one of his best friends Elizabeth Minchilli. And it is Elizabeth (and her daughter Sophie) who are helping him plan a perfect (food-filled) week there.

The trip will be based in the small hill town of Todi, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages. You will be staying in a charming, family owned hotel right in the center of town, where you will have your own room overlooking the landscape. Each day they will be heading out of town to explore the region.

Umbria Table

The table awaits as the group prepares a lovely meal together using ingredients they pick up on the road.  Each day they will be heading out of town to explore the region. Some of the activities include:

  • Visit to a Goat Cheese Farm
  • Ceramic Artisans of Deruta
  • Winery Visit to explore Sagrantino
  • Olive Oil Mill
  • Truffle Hunting, Cooking & Eating
  • Cooking lessons
  • Private dinners
  • And more….

Umbria Cooking Class

The center of gravity will be Elizabeth’s gorgeous and much-published private villa in the hills outside of town. The group will gather here for drinks in the evening and Evan will take over the kitchen, as well as the two outdoor pizza ovens and grills for cooking lessons and meals.
