Local Chefs Unite to Present Inaugural “Farmers Market to Table” Dinner in Old Towne Orange

Orange Home Grown Farmers Market Dinner to benefit new Educational Farm in the community

Farmersmarket Orange Home Grown Farmers & Artisans Market is collaborating with local Chefs in Orange County to present the inaugural “Farmers Market to Table Dinner” at 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 27th at the historic Villa Park Orchards Packinghouse (304 N. Cypress Avenue in Orange, location of the Orange Home Grown Farmers & Artisans Market). Proceeds from tickets to the event will support operations and management of the new Orange Home Grown Education Farm in Old Towne Orange, which will be open to the community through education and volunteer opportunities.

“We want people to come be part of history! The site of this special dinner is the last operating packinghouse in Orange County and our event will most likely be the only one of its kind on-site in its current state,” commented Megan Penn, executive director of Orange Home Grown. “We’re seeing local chefs roll up their sleeves and work to cultivate a healthy community and educate the community on the importance of knowing where one’s food originates.”

Farmersmarket2Chefs participating in the “Farmers Market to Table Dinner” include:

Dean Kim – OC Baking Company (providing bread service)
Greg Daniels – Haven Gastropub, Provisions Market
Lisa Gilmore – Orange Home Grown
Dee Nguyen – Break of Dawn
Danny Godinez – Anepalco’s
Gabbi Patrick – Gabbi’s Mexican Kitchen
David Coleman – Working Class Kitchen
Erin Whitcomb – Front Porch Pops

“As the owner of two businesses in Old Towne Orange, I believe it’s important to stay involved and give back to the local community. By spreading the word about Orange Home Grown, my goal is to help the locally grown food movement thrive and continue to make a positive impact here in Orange,” commented Chef Greg Daniels, partner in Haven Gastropub and Provisions Market, and an Advisory Board member of Orange Home Grown. “The Educational Farm we are working to grow will be one that will greatly impact our lives for generations to come and, no doubt, become a part of this incredible community.”Farmersmarket3Among the guests in attendance at the dinner will be Orange Home Grown Farmers, who will present the unique opportunity for the public to break bread with the incredible men and women who helped to grow the evening’s ingredients.
