What: Spend an evening feasting with friends and supporting an important charity with Chefs Michael Hung of Viviane and Alvin Cailan of Unit 120 at their Filipino Backyard BBQ, in support of No Kid Hungry, held on Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The two chefs will transform the mezzanine level of Chinatown’s Far East Plaza into a vibrant DTLA party inspired by their favorite childhood summer memories. Guests will experience an all-you-can-eat menu of Filipino-inspired dishes, beer, wine and cocktails from Faith & Flower’s Lead Bartender Darwin Pornel, with DJs spinning everything from classic hip hop to modern disco. Tickets are available for purchase for $100 (general admission) and $150 (VIP) at https://www.universe.com/nokidhungryxunit120, with 100% of the proceeds benefitting No Kid Hungry’s work to end childhood hunger in America.
One in five children in this country struggles with hunger. No Kid Hungry is ending childhood hunger in this nation by ensuring that kids start the day with a nutritious breakfast and families learn the skills they need to shop and cook on a budget. Already, No Kid Hungry and its partners have connected kids struggling with hunger with 460 million meals.
This special BBQ is being held to support No Kid Hungry’s Chef’s Cycle fundraiser, in which Michael Hung and his team partner Abby Gavino will join nearly 200 chefs and restaurant industry professionals, who are committed to riding their bikes 300 miles to help ensure that all kids get the healthy food they need, every day.
