Dana Point, Calif. –Salt Creek Grille onMay 19will host a fundraiser to benefit the family of a 34-year-old man who slipped into a coma just before Easter.
The restaurant’s “Give Back Night” will donate 25 percent of the proceeds to the LaClair family. Phil LaClair suffered full cardiac arrest after hiding Easter eggs with his wife, Natalie, for their two young boys, 11-month-old Brody and 5-year-old Braden.
“The next four days were nothing I wish upon anyone,” said Natalie, recalling that fateful day. “He was in cardiac ICU with his future unknown. Within days, with the thoughts prayers and well wishes of our friends, family and the entire community, Phil continued to make incredible progress. He spent a total of 12 days in the hospital, five of them in a medically induced coma.”
Phil, who lives in Ladera Ranch near the border of San Juan Capistrano, now requires constant medical monitoring, in-home nurses, medical equipment and cardiac rehab/physical therapy – all of which is only partially covered by his insurance.
“Hosting this fundraiser for the LaClair family is the least that we can do,” said restaurant owner Tim McCune, who has long supported local groups and causes. “We’re hoping for a big crowd that night to help ease some of this family’s burden.”
