Independence Day on the Back Bay

The iconic ’70s disco group KC and the Sunshine Band will headline the4th of Julyfestivities sponsored by the City of Newport Beach and Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina. The 55th annual Independence Day event will take place at Newport Dunes(1131 Back Bay Drive) andfeature one of Southern California’s largest andmost spectacular fireworks displays starting at9 p.m.; the concert will precede the display from7:30 – 9 p.m.Festivities begin at12 noonand will include carnival games, face painting, caricature artists, crafts, temporary tattoo tent and balloon sculpture as well as access topaddleboards, kayaks, peddleboats and sailboats.

Moe B’s Aquatic Park also will be open. Thewaterpark offers a wide range of massive, colorful inflatable amenities from giant icebergs and water trampolines to rock climbing walls and massive teeter-totters.
