Our friends at the Wine Country wine store will be hosting another special dinner here at Delius on Saturday June 14th. This dinner will be showcasing Madeira fortified wines (as well as two red table wines from the Douro Valley inPortugal).
Madeira has wonderful food pairing qualities and we feel the menu below will do a great job of showcasing these under-appreciated Portuguese wines. The truth is, our founding fathers virtually built this country with the help of Madeira. Washington, Jefferson, Franklin and Adams were all known to enjoy it. The combination of its durability over the long ocean voyage and the fact that indigenous Americangrapes were not suited for wine making, made Madeira wine incredibly popular during the 17th and 18th centuries in America.
