It used to be that fine dining restaurants would boast about their wine lists, but barely mention their featured beers. Not any more. The critically acclaimed Bistango in Irvine is one case in point as it is rolling out its inaugural craft beer list after “testing the waters” with some specialty brews to overwhelming response, says owner John Ghoukassian. Bistango’s new craft beer menu offers nearly 3 dozen different beers including some brewed here in Orange County and others from outside the region including some from as far away as Belgium, Germany and the UK. The majority have a rating onratebeer.comof over 95 with thousands of votes cast.
Among the most highly rated beers are Ballast Point Sculpin IPA, Dogfish Head 90 Minute Imperial IPA, Firestone Walker Double Jack IPA and Stone IPA.Rogue Ales-Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout, Fuller’s London Pride, Deschutes Black Butte Porter and the allocation-onlyAlmanac Farmer’s Reserve Blackberry and Almanac Dogpatch Strawberry.
Bistangois renowned for its diverse menu of fine American cuisine set in an airy atmosphere distinguished by fine art exhibits and large umbrellas that suspend from the ceiling lending great intimacy. An extensive cocktail list of classics and house specialties and a 400-bottle wine list that was heralded by Wine Spectator round out the offerings. New to its beverage offerings are 30 craft beers by the bottle, which include some difficult to acquire selections. Bistangoserves lunch and dinner weekdays and dinner-only Saturdays.
