Packard, Picnic & Pies

The Anaheim Packing District will host a Packard, Picnic and Pie celebration on August 25, 4-7pm at 400 S. Anaheim Blvd. in the heart of the Anaheim Packing District. This Sunday afternoon event is free to the community and will showcase Packard automobiles (to celebrate the history of the Packard Building nearby), a pie-eating contest, picnicking, lawn games and live music.

The Packard car show celebrates the Packard Car Showroom that once housed the luxurious cars. This mission revival building built in 1925 was designed with an open and light filled interior typical of car showrooms. After decades of various automobile uses and miscellaneous modifications, the Packard Building has been restored to its original 1920’s glory and is now home to the Anaheim Brewery and Umami Burger.

At the Packard, Picnic and Pie event, the community is invited to bring a picnic and relax on the rolling green hills of Farmers Park, or enjoy the pizza pies from Urban Pie or sweet and savory pies from Wheat & Sons. Enjoy live music relaxing in the summer sun. Kids can play lawn games such as hula-hoops, gunny sack races and bean bag toss with orange and lemon yellow colored bags reminiscent of the oranges and lemons packed in the adjacent Anaheim Packing House.
