MARINA KITCHEN HOSTS THE STA. RITA HILLS WINEGROWERS ALLIANCE FOR TASTING WEEKEND

Two-Day Exploration of the Sta. Rita Hills Winemaking Region Features Winemaker Dinner, Educational Seminar and Barbecue Tastings, April 11 – 12, 2015

San Diego, CA(February 24, 2015) –Marina Kitchen located in the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina and the Sta. Rita Hills Winegrowers Alliance bring the taste of the Sta. Rita Hills to San Diego, April 11 and 12, 2015. The two-day event takes place at Marina Kitchen, and includes a winemaker dinner, educational seminar and Grand Tasting featuring barbecue bites and tastings from 25 Sta. Rita Hills wineries, said Hotel Manager Steve Pagano.

“Throughout the weekend, guests have the unique opportunity to meet and learn from winemakers and vineyard owners, indulge in delicious food, and experience the wines that are quickly becoming some of the most exciting and sought after in California,” continued Pagano.

Located just north of Santa Barbara, the Sta. Rita Hills are considered one of the top producing cool climate wine regions in the world, and are best known for their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines. Throughout the weekend, guests will experience the wines of the Sta. Rita Hills through several events, including:

Winemaker Dinner – On Saturday April 11, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., diners enjoy eight Sta. Rita Hills wine parings and a four-course dinner by Marina Kitchen’s Executive Chef, Aron Schwartz. Throughout the dinner, winemakerswill stop by each table to meet guests.

Private Winemaker Dinner Diners looking for a more intimate experience will dine alongside winemakers, Peter Cargasacchi ofCargasacchi Wines, Gray Hartley of Hitching Post Wines, and Mark Horvath of Crawford Family Wines in one of Marina Kitchen’s private dining rooms during the April 11th dinner.

Sunday Seminar –On April 12, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., Sta. Rita Hill’s winemakers discuss the history of the region and its wine production in an educational tasting and seminar. Additionally, Winemaker and Vineyard Manager of Clos Pepe Vineyards, Wes Hagen will lead a lively discussion of the history of wine, beer and spirits. The seminar concludes with a selection of tasting flights showcasing, “Pink and Bubbles in the Hills,” “Chardonnay Comparison,” and “Red Wines from the Sta. Rita Hills.”

Grand Tasting Barbecue –Guests will enjoy wine tastings from 25 Sta. Rita Hills wineries paired with barbecue bites from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Participating wineries include: Zotovich Vineyards and Winery, Hitching Post Wine, Lafond Winery & Vineyards, Cargasacchi Vineyards, Clos Pepe Vineyards, Crawford Family Wines, D’Alfonso-Curran Winery, Fiddlehead Cellars, Ken Brown Wines, Kessler-Haak Wine, Pali Wine Company, La Montagne Winery, Montemar Wines and Rozak Wines.
