West L.A. Mexican Market Tour and Lunch

Saturday, February 7, 2015, 10am to 3pm

$105 includes lunch (SAVE – both tour and class, $185)

Let’s shop! Join me on a whirlwind trip to my favorite Mexican food stores in West Los Angeles. Limited size group. Find piñatas and candies to fill them, tropical fruits, fresh and dried chiles, Mexican cone sugar, beans, seeds, and dried corn.We’ll visit terrific bakeries stocked with pan dulce and regional breads. I’ll introduce you to a convenient Westside place for imported Oaxaca quesillo cheese and both red and black moles. We’ll go to a great Mexican butcher for fresh, hot carnitas (the real deal!). Bring an insulated container to carry meats, fresh masa, crema, and refrigerated items back home for your fiesta.

We’ll wind things up with a delicious regional Oaxaca lunch you will not go home hungry!

The tour ends 2:30-3pm after lunch. Students may carpool (I will match drivers/riders if desired) or meet at the first stop. Wear comfortable shoes and bring insulated bags to carry purchases back home. I will supply meeting spot, directions, locations, etc. one week before the tour date.
