Yappy Hour 2019
Bark your calendar as The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel’s popular Yappy Hour series returns this May through December, welcoming canines and their companions to come together for outdoor barbecue, refreshing libations, and treats overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Pups can enjoy chicken, beef, bacon or vegan flavored water and house-made peanut butter biscuits, while human companions sip on glasses of Mutt Lynch wine. Tito’s cocktails, beer, and freshly grilled burgers and hot dogs are also available for purchase. Each event proudly supports The Veterans Initiative of Canine Companions for Independence, a non-profit committed to connecting highly trained assistance dogs with disabled veterans. Last year, the resort announced its $1.5 million combined donation from their six years of partnership with Canine Companions and look forward to giving back again in 2019.

“Yappy Hour began nine years ago to help raise funds and provide significant support to animal charities that make an impactful difference in the lives of those in need,” says Bruce Brainerd, general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel. “We’re looking forward to another great Yappy Hour season, providing the local community and their dogs with a fun, yet meaningful way to support Canine Companions and the amazing work they do for veterans with disabilities.”
Canine Companions for Independence has been serving the community of veterans and people with physical disabilities for over 40 years. The Veterans Initiative strives to connect the growing number of wounded veterans with an assistance dog to provide the help they need to regain independence. Beyond the physical assistance a canine partner provides, the love, loyalty, and positivity make a lasting impact on someone struggling to handle difficult emotions that are hard to communicate. To date, The Veterans Initiative has helped serve over 300 veterans and recently launched a pilot to help veterans with PTSD.
Yappy Hour is complimentary to attend, with the exception of food and beverage and select retail items available for purchase. For additional details about Yappy Hour, please visit www.ritzcarlton.com/
