It’s long been a dream for Chef Paul Gstrein (formerly of Bayside since 1999) to partner up with longtime friend, Matthew Timmes (formerly a partner at Vintage Steakhouse) to open their own restaurant. As we know, if you put in the work, dreams do come true.
This September in Laguna Beach, the community welcomed The Drake, named after the famous New York City hotel, in an expanded version of the Tabu Grill space at the corner of Nyes Place and Pacific Coast Highway.
A three-year development plan and wrangle with the city ensued and the real estate, the valet parking, and the licenses are all in place and ready to roll.
It features a New American menu and entertainment available until 11 pm in the enlarged space with a piano bar featuring Jazz and R&B tunes, and a new patio.
