Inn at the Mission San Juan Capistrano, part of Autograph Collection Hotels, is set to open in April 2020 in the storied city of San Juan Capistrano. The hotel joins the brand’s diverse and dynamic portfolio of more than 180 hotels around the world that are independent, one-of-a-kind and champion values of vision, design and craft. Reservations are now available for May 28, 2020 and beyond.

The birthplace of Orange County, San Juan Capistrano has been home to many over its 240-plus years – from the indigenous Acjachemen people and the world-famous swallows that make their annual return, to thousands of culture seekers who visit every year. Inn at the Mission San Juan Capistrano will intimately connect guests to the history and culture of their surroundings.

Located in the heart of historic downtown San Juan Capistrano, just steps away from the awe-inspiring ruins of Mission San Juan Capistrano, the hotel will feature 125 hacienda-inspired guest rooms with seven luxury suites including three residential-style villas and over 10,000 square feet of master-planned indoor and outdoor event space for meetings and weddings. Staying true to the style of the mission, the heartfelt-designed property emulates old Spain with three distinct types of architecture including adobe, Monterey and Spanish Revival and is nestled among four acres of lush landscaping with meandering paths throughout, a verdant Olive Grove and large outdoor deck overlooking the Great Stone Church. The presence of the grove will be felt throughout Inn at the Mission San Juan Capistrano, whether through experiences such as an olive oil-based body scrub at the spa, an olive oil tasting at the restaurant or the sensory retreat of the grove itself complete with twinkling lanterns and firepits.

Against a backdrop of rolling hills, Inn at the Mission San Juan Capistrano will welcome guests with a resort-style pool, cabanas and a 2,500-square-foot spa with four dedicated treatment rooms for massages, facials and rejuvenating body treatments utilizing natural oils infused with on-site herbs such as lemon and basil. The spa will offer limitless opportunities for transformative experiences and rituals that invoke a deep emotional response for the body, mind and soul. Additional wellness offerings will include various gardens for guests to relax and unwind, as well as an immersive, soothing wall of chiming bells for meditation.

A carefully crafted culinary program will be driven by locally sourced ingredients to create a modern twist on classic Spanish favorites including wood-fired meats and vegetables, and craft cocktails with ingredients such as local honey and freshly squeezed orange juice. In addition to a signature restaurant, a coffee house with communal tables will feature La Colombe specialty coffees, Spanish-style tapas and immersive programming including cava tastings to further encourage guests to interact and share stories during their stay.

Inn at the Mission San Juan Capistrano, Autograph Collection, opening April 2020 in Orange County, CA, has announced the appointment of Executive Chef Aaron Obregon to lead the culinary team.

Executive Chef Obregon began his professional culinary journey in Los Angeles as a student in Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, where he translated his passion for the history of Mexican cuisine and love for his home city into his food, as he perfected his craft. Before coming to Inn at Mission San Juan Capistrano, Obregon was chef de partie of BIKO in Mexico City, one of the world’s top 50 restaurant, opened his own seafood restaurant with fellow chefs and led Bohemian lifestyle restaurant, ALBACA at Coronado Island Marriott & Spa in San Diego.
