Mama's Card Back (2)Huntington Beach eatery donates nearly $50K to local nonprofits, schools

Mama’s on 39 recently donated $1,585 to the science department at Edison High School. The donation brings the total amount this Huntington Beach restaurant has donated to nonprofits, youth sports groups and schools to nearly $50,000.

Through the restaurant’s “Give Back Days,” Mama’s on 39 donates back 30 percent of the designated proceeds when groups dine at the eatery on the corner of Beach Boulevard and Atlanta Avenue. The restaurant campaign is meant to support community organizations and worthy causes such as the Matt Cwiertny Memorial Foundation (MCMF), McKenna Claire Foundation and schools like Edison High. The science department will use the money for its student lab supplies and new Innovation lab, said the school’s Brittany Yonts.

Since Mama’s on 39 opened at 21022 Beach Blvd. in 2012, owner Pete Truxaw has used the eatery as a vehicle to give back and support worthy causes.
