It has been a slow road that she has traveled and we’ve worked very hard to be patient with Betsy every step of the way. After all, born in 1988, she is an old lady in truck years.
Her first stop was the repair shop to get her through the smog check process and then it was onto meetings and inspections with the health department. New brakes and front end work was also done to keep her safe and healthy. And then, the fun began.
Whether it be the first day of school or a first day on the new job, every lady wants to put her best foot forward on that day. And Betsy was no different. It was time for her makeover! So it was off to Anaheim for a little plastic surgery, a new coat of paint and a new outfit in the form of her logo. When all was complete Betsy came home very excited to make her debut.
And with that Betsy was ready and the mission of Bracken’s Kitchen was fully realized.
Our MissionUtilizing an innovative, practical approach, Bracken’s Kitchen will serve those people forced to choose between nutritious food and other life necessities by providing healthy meals.
Our VisionThrough creative collaboration and a foundation of compassion we will partner with likeminded individuals and organizations to build a sustainable model that utilizes food trucks to serve those people suffering from the ongoing effects of food insecurity.
With her makeover complete Betsy and the team at Bracken’s Kitchen was eager for Betsy to make her maiden voyage and debut as the newest member of our team. No longer will we be cooking food in our prep kitchen and transporting it in warmers to a location. With the help of Betsy we can now provide a fresh, hot and nutritious meal cooked on site.
The clients at the Illumination Foundation’s Multi-Services Facility in Stanton were the lucky recipients of Bill’s first meal with Betsy.
Based on the number of people coming back for seconds, the smiling faces pictured below and even the Facebook review we think Bill and Betsy did a great job.
While we are working on finalizing our next event with Illumination Foundation we are very excited about the programs we are working on with Working Wardrobes, Miracles for Kidsand the Second Harvest Food Bank. We will be keeping Betsy very busy as we feed a lot of under-served and hungry people in Southern California.
We hope you are as excited as we are to see where Betsy is next. You can track her scheduled stops by clicking on events atwww.BrackensKitchen.com. Please check in on her from time to time to keep up with her. You might even want to join us for a meal. After all, our own Chef Bill does all the cooking.
